Installation question... DayZ not showing up

Sorry for being a huge noob, but I'm so excited to play this game and can't quite get this installation right, even though I don't consider myself a noob when it comes to computers and games..

I installed OA and A2, I made a "@dayz" folder, I made an "addons" folder, I placed all files from the torrent in there... I created a shortcut from the OA.exe, and added "-mod @dayz" or whatever it was (I got that right, don't worry) to the end outside of the target's quotations. I started it up, but I don't see "DayZ" in the top right corner, and when I go to expansions, OA and Arma 2 are selected but DayZ is not highlighted and I can't enable it...

Also, when I go to the list of servers for multiplayer, all of them show up as red x's and I get a "connecting error" or whatever...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.
