I can't hold a conversation when I'm with only one other person to save my life and it's stressing me the hell out. Reddit, how do you avoid the awkward silence when you're with one other person?

I've always been a bit of a SAP but this has been killing me. Every time it's just me and one other person, whether it be a girl I'm very interested in (most recent), or just a bro, I cannot for the fucking breath of my being not fall into an awkward silence. It's like everyone has this kind of "entertain me" attitude where I'm the only one who makes an attempt to contribute. This issue amplifies 10x when eating.
