help regarding vocal recording setup

I'm thinking about spending around 1000 EUR (~ $1300 US, shipping to European Union) on a voice recording setup. My current picks are the [RØDE NTK] (http://www.rodemic.com/mics/ntk) and an ART VoiceChannel; anyone have any experience with these or other suggestions? one main contender for the ART is the Avalon U5 (being in the same price range). which would be the better pick from the two?
