How to run Left 4 Uncut on Windows 7 64-bit?

Hey guys, I figured this would probably be the best place, since the makers of Left 4 Uncut don't seem to have any forum or contact details.

I live in Australia (Where as everyone already knows L4D2 got heavily censored), as a result I never bought it. I recently discovered that there's a piece of software (Left 4 Uncut) which can add the gore back in to the game, so I decided to buy it. The only problem is, I can't get L4U to run, whenever I try to start it it freezes instantly and crashes, never giving me a chance to start the game, I've tried redownloading it multiple times, but it still freezes and crashes every single time.

I have two friends who haven't had any problems with the software, one of them on Windows XP and another of 7 64-bit just like me. I've tried various solutions such as running as administrator or in compatibility modes but nothing seems to work.

Does anybody know why it won't run and how to fix it?

Edit: And I am aware of the other method involving changing the steamid, but I don't want to do that as it doesn't allow multiplayer.
