Dell XPS 15 Problems, supposedly common

OK so about a year ago, I bought a Dell XPS 15 with the i7 2630qm/nvidia geforce gt 540m combo and was fine for about 4 months. After 4 months, whenever I try to play a game, any game (Other than minecraft for some reason) about 10 mins - 1 hour in, it freezes, and I have to completely turn off my laptop and turn back on. Also, when Im playing music, every now and then, a strange static feedback will be heard along with my computer lagging entirely, most commonly happens when I go back in my browser, but will happen randomly anytime. Have anyone else had this problem before? Any way to fix this? I've checked forums and things, and this is a farely common problem, but I haven't found a legitimate fix for it, any advice?
