Help me prepare my team for ranked 5's

Hello Summoners,

today 4 of my friends asked me to join their ranked team. All of them are fresh 30's and have zero to no knowlodge about the meta and competitive LoL.

Due to me being ~1500 elo they asked me to teach them the basics and help them to not suck, as all of us are pretty competetive and hate losing.

Now I am not really sure about how to teach them all the necessary things in a fun and helpful way. I thought about having a 2 stage training, the first being a test with questions like:

"Wards should be bought by: Top/Mid/Jungle/AD/Support" and "Dragon gives each player ... Gold on Kill".

After I got a better insight into their current knowledge about the game there needs to be a way to increase this knowledge and improve their mechanics.

The way I imagined this training was to make competitions to fuel from their drive to be better than their teammates and make it a little more fun. For example there could be one or two 10 minute lasthitting-in-custom-games-rounds (which are kinda boring) and after that 1v1's with the focus on cs and harass (much more fun).

The thing I want to know from you guys is:

• What is something you feel every new player should be taught?
• What is something you wish you knew when you started out?
• In what way could you have been taught this knowledge best?
• What do you consider knowledge that is necessary in LoL?
