Noah's Ark Children's Alphabet Poem
Old Father Noah, a long time ago
Was the last of the good honest men you could know
The rest of the world had decided to spurn
The ways of the Lord and from righteousness turn
Now, a bath is quite good to get rid of your dirt
And a flood is a bath if your name is the Earth
That is what the Lord planned but he needed to know
That men could return and in righteousness grow
Noah, his wife and all of his sons
(Japeth and Ham and Shem were the ones)
With family all who were meant to survive
So an ark was constructed to keep them alive
But what of the animals roaming the land?
To them would the Lord not extend his great hand?
"Of course!" Noah said, "They can come along too!
We'll mix in the cruise with a trip to the zoo!”
The ark was prepared right before they could board her
The stalls were all in alphabetical order
A is for aardvark, in front of the line
B for baboon, who arrived just in time
C for the crocodile, toothy and green
D is for donkey who caused a big scene
E is for elephant, wrinkly and gray
F for the falcon, a proud bird of prey
G for giraffe who towers above
H for the hippo, with so much to love
I is for inchworm, a really small guy
J for the June bug, who'd normally fly
K for the jumpy and quick kangaroo
L for the lemur who likes to leap too
M is for moose with a head full of antlers
N for the newts, which are small salamanders
O for orangutan, furry and red
P for the possum who likes to play dead
Q for the quagga, now gone but not then
R is for rooster (along with a hen)
S for the skunk, though his smell was a hurdle
T for the slow but deliberate turtle
U for the unicorn (missing the call)
V for the vulture who took uni's stall
W is for the fierce wolverine
X for the xenops attempting to sing
Y for the yak, who was looking quite fine
Z for the zebra, the end of the line
The rain began falling, it started to pour
And Noah was glad as he fastened the door
With all of the creatures (or most) on the boat
The ark lifted up and it started to float
For forty long days they were tossed and they turned
And every poor tummy on board was all churned
Then finally Noah sent forth from the ark
A dove for to find them a good place to park
The waters receded the ark was then sat
On a place that was known as the mount Ararat
As creepers and crawlers and flyers dispersed
A rainbow appeared between heaven and earth
The flood came and went and subdued the Lords wrath
And never again would the earth get a bath.
