People of reddit, surely I am not the only one who had a Forever Alone Global Meetup Day. Do you have a story to share?
So I saw a meetup that was about 20 minutes away from my hometown (a quiet mountain town), and was very excited. It was to be a short hike, followed by a picnic overlooking a scenic lake. I PMed the dude who set it up, and he said he would be hiking up at 12:30, and so anytime after would be fine (I worked till 3 pm). The weather report was kind of crappy, but I decided to go for it after I realized the rain seemed to be holding off. Long story short, I did not meet anyone along the way/at the peak who claimed to be a redditor. There was one kind of SAP looking dude, but that was about it. Otherwise, only old people and couples with children, and nary a one of them shouted out "When does the narwhal bacon!?!" or any other hint of redditdom. As I get home and check my email, I see a message from the guy, saying we should move it to next weekend, due to storm warnings. Anyway, I had a nice introspective hike. What's your story?
