Hey New York Filmmakers! Any advice for a desperate newbie?

So I just graduated from college in Virginia and have since been desperately trying to find work doing anything on set or in post work (mostly using craigslist and mandy.com), but for over two weeks I keep getting turned down, including twice today. Is there anything else I could be doing/other places I could be looking to break in?
