Do you guys think that animated performances in live action films (think Andy Serkis in LOTR and Rise) should be eligible for acting Oscars?

After seeing the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and hearing what i did about Rise of the Planet of the Apes, i would think that Andy Serkis should at least be considered for Oscars. But maybe i'm wrong, what's the counter argument?
