Why do these two same chord progressions sound so different?
I am working on figuring out the simple chord structures in this Prodigy song. Sorry if it is a bit annoying, I will link to the two parts I am analyzing so you can skip the rest.
Full song (listen to the synth pad progression at the beginning).
It sounds to me like it goes: Am - Em -Dm -Am - (some variation of Am). It sounds really ominous and a little sad. I am new to figuring out chords so I likely got the inversions and extending notes wrong, so sorry about that.
Appears to have the same chord progression, with melody notes A - E - F - G. Why does it sound so triumphant? It is played earlier in the song with minor reggae chords under it and the progression still sounds more uplifting, even though it is the same progression. Does the note choice give it an implied progression? Any help for a newbie guys?
Edit: Also, did I get the chords right?
