ELI5 What exotic matter is and how it would effect normal matter that interacts with it
I've heard the term thrown around a lot before in both the real world and Sci-Fi novels, and from what I can understand it's substituting a particle like an electron in an atom with another particle of the same charge, such as a muon. How does this affect the atom and how does it affect it's interactions? Does it behave differently than a regular atom or does it have more or less the same properties?
Sorry if this seems a bit advanced for ELI5 but I have no quantum physics background so I couldn't understand an any answer which explains it using a whole lot of equations and laws which I haven't heard of. I just like reading up on it and find it very interesting.
