If abortion is murder…

If abortion is murder, then why is it that American politicians want to go after the doctors who perform the abortion?

Wouldn't a woman who was wanting to terminate an abortion be guilty of something like attempted murder or at least accessory and conspiracy?

And if abortion is murder, should the police investigate any claim of miscarriage to make sure that murder didn't take place?
