Pre-Screened for date?

So after a few messages back and forth, I made a date with a gentleman I met on OKCupid. The plan was to meet at the corner of a fairly busy intersection downtown, and then go for drinks at a bar close by. So I'm standing on the corner at the arranged meeting time, waiting for him to show up, when a different guy comes up and starts talking to me. Now, this definitely wasn't the person I was speaking to online, different race, different height, different body type. But he starts talking to me, just random small talk along the lines of "Hey, how are you, it's nice out tonight etc." At this point I kind of awkwardly say that if he's meeting someone here, I don't think I'm the one he is looking for. But he says no no, he just likes to talk to random people that he meets in the street. Well alright, so we start talking about random stuff, and he asks whether I am in school, to which I reply "No, I'm actually a lot older than I look" And he says "Well, if I had to guess I'd say you're 24." Which is my actual age, which noone ever guesses. But okay, that could just be a weird coincidence. So we talk for a bit more, until he abruptly says "Oh, that is my ride, I have to go. It was nice talking to you Dany." My name is Danielle, and I had not told him my name, so at this point I was like WTF. I must have given him a really weird look, because he said "Oh, you just look like a Dany," and took off across the street. So I'm standing there, like what was that all about, and it's 15 minutes after we were supposed to meet and the guy I am supposed to be meeting has still not showed up. He finally does about 2 minutes later, with some apology about how he was held up doing something and had to race there. I end up going ahead with the date, and it was actually pretty decent, but after the fact I can't help but feel weirded out by the whole thing. I didn't tell the guy I went on a date with about the random guy, I don't really know why.

TL;DR While waiting for date to show up, random guy who mysteriously knows my name (almost) and age comes and talks to me for 10 minutes.

Do you think I am misinterpreting this situation/ has anyone had any similar experiences?
