Happy to be among you

Well, I successfully transplanted myself to Las Vegas today. I now live just two miles from where I will be working for the next 4 months. I'll mountain bike through the desert every morning at 4:30, crossing train tracks, and ducking under cut-open fences. Then I'll get there and work with 2,300 Desert Tortoises, conducting health exams, feeding 'em, making them new burrows, and, ultimately, translocating them back into the wild. Hoping to get some sticks in and a whole bunch more. Once 1pm rolls around, it's too hot and they need to rest, so the shifts over (5-1 will now be my 9-5). I biked over to the site today for fun and was happy to realize that the way home, when temps will easily be 100+, is a steady down hill. Easy Peezy. That'll make coming home and doing body beast that much easier.

Living in a 4 room, 2-story house, with a full garage, and only one other person. The vegas housing market is in the dumps, but that doesn't mean everybody suffers. Even better, I'm on the edge of Vegas, so my front yard is literally thousands of acres of BLM land.

I think I'm going to like this...
