How to progress through the maze (a psychological complaint)
I would like to know if anyone else experiences these defeating thought-patterns and if anyone has any advice for how to solve or improve them.
I just graduated with my philosophy degree. I'm very happy I did it.
Problem: the way I think is like travelling through a maze with nothing but unlimited dead-ends or paths that I'm not smart enough to follow.
If I am faced with a problem or compelled to form an opinion, the possibilities flood out and each one is undermined by another and I am left feeling very confused and unsure of how to progress.
Abstract philosophical inquiry doesn't bother me as much, because skepticism comes naturally and nothing more is usually demanded. But moral and social questions are problematic. I want to orient myself in the world and build intellectual structures that suit me, but every time I try to decide how I think or feel about something, it's as if there are multiple people of varying view-points all arguing strongly and cancelling each other out.
I'm curious of askphilosophy's thoughts on this. Thank you.
