I cannot, for the life of me, remember the title of this film.
Unfortunately I cannot remember any actors or the director. I have exhausted google and IMDB so here goes.
Genre is drama, fictional plot.
setting: Film takes place in 70s America. Follows young adults in a newly constructed suburban west/mid-west town. One school, bunch of houses, some building that's "coming soon!", otherwise desolate setting.
plot: Young adults (round characters) tend to hang around a youth center run by a nice lady. One day the town's only policeman (a notorious prick) comes to the youth center and finds drugs on one kid. He decides to shut down the youth center for some reason. Kids then have no place to hang out or go after school. Drinking age in movie is 18, next scene protagonists go through the ritual of trying to buy beer at random stores before finally getting some. They head to a "party" out in the woods and some typical high school drama/bullying occurs. One round character gets in trouble with parents for drugs/drinking/fighting and parents fail to communicate effectively with him. One youth steals a car and tries to run away. Cop chases him and he ends up crashing and dieing. Frustrated youth runs away to uncompleted house in developing suburban area and sleeps with his teen love interest. Parents meet in school to have PTA meeting and discuss closing of the youth center/trouble with delinquency/deviance/dead kid. Kids lock parents in auditorium and destroy cars in parking lot. Some things get blown up. I forget exactly how the movie ends.
edit: I forgot to mention that the film was also filmed in 70s. I saw this on VHS not too long ago but my memory seems to have gotten the best of me.
