Credits Question

I dont usually pay attention to much unless I'm playing my Lowe or t59, but I've noticed that credit earning has no relation between exp or even efficiency. sometimes I'll get 1.5k+ exp and get around 70k while other games Ill get over 100k credits with only around 1k exp. How does the credit system work?
