Overlapped Pictures - Lomography Rally

Last month our class had a lomography rally as a field trip and the pics finally came back. Most of them were really dark, spotty and overall messy, but I was able to solve those issues with my relatively weak skills with Gimp.

However, in one pic, two pics that really came out well individually were overlapped and I'm afraid I wasn't really able to do anything with them. I understand these pics are hard so this is a long shot, but might as well try, right?

I was hoping for maybe getting the two pics, but I doubt the one that was lapped over the first one can be saved. Also, could you please also brighten up the end result(s)?
