My first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy SIII coming from a Nexus One.

Its here! http://i.imgur.com/pyadr.jpg

Initial impressions: Its huge, duh. It doesn't feel cheap, but does feel like it is made of plastic. When I take off the back cover, I worry I am going to snap the cover in half, it is very thin. My Nexus One feels like a little toy already.

Size: It is difficult to get the top and top left corner the way I normally hold my nexus one. I normally have the phone resting on my pinky, but I can't do that with the S3. It is expected and not a nuisance. One thing that does bother me is that the refresh for the internet is at the top left corner, and not in the menu like on my N1. This is a touchwiz/ICS vs Cyanogenmod issue, not a phone thing. Edit: I downloaded a new browser, ICS Browser +, and it gave me refresh and bookmarks in the menu bar.

Browsing the web on a larger phone is so much nicer. I can read vbulliten forums and have the username and text in the same screen and be readable. Before I only viewed the text.

Search button missing: I miss my search button dearly, especially with a phone of this size. Needing to click the top URL bar in the browser sucks when all I used to do is press the search button on the bottom right.

Vibration: The vibration is so much nicer on the S3. The N1 had a noisy annoying vibrating motor. The S3 is soft and silent.

Keyboard: The larger size is great. I feel I will make a lot less mistakes compared to the smaller N1. The keyboard layout is a little strange, and the space bar is very small and not centered. Luckily it is an android and this is easy to fix.

Display: Comparing to the nexus one at full brightness: Looking at the picture 'Spectrum of the sky' the colors are very similar. The S3 has slightly more contrast. The brightness is about the same, which is a little disapointing.

Looking at the NY Times mobile site: The S3 has a slightly darker and warmer background, and the text is easier and more comfortable to read on the S3. The text is clearer, but it is not as noticeable as all the comparisons of screens online have led me to believe. You really have to look close. I don't know how people are saying one is far better than the other when the difference is this small between a brand new phone and a 2 year old one.

The touchwiz feature that keeps the screen awake: It works, and it is awesome.

Outside use: The Nexus one is hard to read outside in sunlight. The S3 isn't too much better, it needs to be brighter. It does have very noticeably better reflection control. My face and the sky was darker in the reflection and made it easier to read the screen. Interesting note: The screen is very easy to clean. I clean screens by rubbing it on my shirt over my chest. The S3 cleaned up fast. The N1 I struggled with and still didn't get it perfect.

4G LTE: Holy **** this is fast. 22mbps down, 11 up. My home internet is much slower than this.

Responsiveness: I will come back to this. I feel my nexus one could load the internet app faster, and load settings menus faster. I think this is because Touchwiz/ICS has a smooth transition when loading things, while the cyanogenmod on my N1 is instant and abrupt.

Storage: 12GB for Apps! YES!! The N1 was limited to 200mb.

Center button: I think it looks nice, and its a good button that doesn't feel cheap. I think I would prefer a capacitance button over it though. Capacitance buttons are quick to press.

ATT owned phone: ATT splattered its **** everywhere. Very annoying. I haven't seen the words ATT on my phone since my flip phone I owned years and years ago. ATT has a splash screen and sound during startup. They also have a few preloaded apps and made the ATT Contacts app default over the Google Contacts, which is so stupid.

Earpiece volume: Much louder, much appreciated. I made a call today and I could hold the phone an inch away and still hear the person. The N1 was very quiet.

That's all I got for now.
