If the biblical 'signs' of the apocalypse were to occur, would that prove determinism?

On a side note, if God created mankind, sent us down to earth, and knew that we would become wicked and depraved and eventually destroy the planet, why are we punished for doing what he already knew was going to happen? If free-will exists, why is not possible that we all could have decided to live moral and righteous lives and prevent our mortal and eternal suffering?
