What do you say Reddit? Can guys and girls "just be friends"?

This is just something I've been pondering lately. Based on the observation of my own life, my natural inclination is to say no. If I make the effort to socialize with a girl, it's usually due to some sort of, at least, surface-level attraction. So what do you say Reddit?

Edit: It might be helpful to post your gender as well, perhaps men and women may lean toward a certain response?
