Grimstar3

Grimstar's first Nuzlocke - Emerald Randomizer, first gym down!

My rules:

  1. Faint = Dead. Buried in the PC, not release, this way I can keep an accurate body count, and mourn my losses and occasionally visit the grave sites of my fallen comrades.

  2. Nickname the pokes.

  3. Catch only the first pokemon in a new area. Surfing and fishing both count as a "new" area. For example, I can catch one out of the grass, one out of the fishing rod, and one surfing. But only the first one I encounter each way, and that's it for the whole game.

  4. My starter is to be holding a Master Ball. This will ONLY be allowed for a Shiny pokemon. No exceptions.

  5. Shiny Pokemon are unique in more than color. On the off chance I find a shiny, the Master Ball will be used. In my Nuzlocke, a Shiny pokemon is more than just colorful. It has the ability to return from death. This makes them extremely valuable. Shinies can be caught at any point, even if I have already caught one on that route. (Still haven't decided if I want them to have infinite or set amount of lives, I'll worry about it more on the off chance I find one.)

Those are the rules, now for the story thus far...

My initial challenge was a failure. I forget my choices of starters, but I chose Nincada. Two for one, right? Me and Hanzo didn't make it very far though... I had grossly underestimated the power of a level 5 Swablu's Peck attack, and I lost my only Pokemon to a critical hit. I was dead.

So I got up, and returned from the beginning to start again. This time my choices were between Krabby, Ditto, and Crobat. I thought that as cool as Ditto would be to use, it would be incredibly difficult to survive the initial game without losing him. Krabby was an alright choice... nothing too special, but Crobat was fully evolved and a fast pokemon. So I start my game. A female Crobat... Hmm... Vampirella!

Continuing on to route 101, we meet our first team mate. A female Sunkern. I named her Monrovia, after my girlfriend's favorite flower. (Talk about a painful sentimental loss if she goes down!)

We later on arrive at route 103, where my first encounter was with a Skitty. Meh. I catch her and name her Whiskers. She can hang around for a bit I suppose.

Onward to Petalberg Woods, my first encounter was a Kabuto!!! I catch him immediately. Knowing how intimidating and badass Kabutops will be, I promptly name him Fluffles. Welcome aboard! He was a great help being a rock type. The wurmple trainers stood no chance.

It only gets better from here... My next catch would be a Combusken. He put up quite the fight, almost defeating Whiskers, and using a lot of pokeballs. But I got him. Let's do this El Diablo! (Idk, I think it's like a... fightin' chicken or somethin'.)

On the way to Rustboro I catch a female Slakoth and name her Slackie. (GET IT?! LIKE JACKIE!?!?) Meh. She gets the PC for having a terrible ability.

We get to Rustboro, not prepared for the Gym leader, I move onwards to catch a new pokemon, sorry Slackie you just aren't up to snuff. But a Natu is!!!! I catch her, and name her Navaho. Navaho was great. I caught her at level 8, get her to level 10 and she gets Night Shade!!!

Noticing Rustboro Tunnel, I excitedly run in, preparing for my next catch... The next battle was a blessing as well as a curse. I run into a Tyranitar. O_O I MUST CATCH!!! The sand storm he wrought made this a tough fight. Navaho the Natu was first up. I have her Night shade it for decent neutral damage... But then... The unthinkable happens...

BITE!!!!!!

The Tyrant knew Bite. A super effective, and critical hit on Navaho. She... She went down in one hit. I'm so sorry Navaho. It was my fault. I was a fool. I should have expected a Dark type pokemon to have a Dark type attack. I could have researched it. I could have checked his current moves on Serebii. But I didn't. And I failed you Navaho. We only spent 2 levels together, but I was hoping for far more...

I sent out Fluffles the Kabuto, since the sandstorm meant nothing to him. Slowly he whittled down the Tyranitar's health with an uneffective scratch. I had to use a potion to keep Fluffles alive. I wasn't going to lose another soldier to this beast.

15 Pokeballs and 1 Great Ball later (4 pokeballs left after that!) I snatch him. Come Balthazar. You serve me now. You will be forced to serve me as consequence for your murdering of Navaho. Only I decide your fate, and when YOU die. (Balthazar is named after the God of War in Guild Wars. Fitting I thought!)

Now, onwards to the Gym! Balthazar proved invaluable. He was eager t make up for his former crimes. He defeated all of her pokemon while taking but the negligable amount of damage you see in the picture below. Even her nosepass stood no chance, after 2 potions and an oran berry were used to recover it.

Onwards my team!!! FOR NAVAHO!!!!

RIP Navaho. Level 10 Natu.
