Blurry vision for two years prior to getting diagnosed, can anyone relate?

Like the title says, I got diagnosed last week type 1, but two years leading up to my diagnosis my vision had been incredibly blurry. I've been wearing contacts for the last 2 years, I literally could not see detail on peoples faces standing 10 feet in front of me without them, but last Friday after receiving insulin for the first time in the E.R my vision totally restored itself. I now am seeing as clear as ever with no contacts.

Did anyone have an experience like this? Have I really been diabetic for the last two years? I told this to my endo but I didn't really emphasize it enough for him to go in depth about it with me.
