What inspirational stories or facts about the human race do you know, or have experienced that will inspire someone and make them happy to be alive?

I've been having kind of a rough few years, and I am trying to turn my life around and I'm just looking for something to make me feel happy and inspired, because things are not going to well right now.

I have scoured the internet (by scour, I mean Google it a few different ways) looking for a place that contains a bunch of inspiring stories of dedication, survival or any other facts about the human race and our planet that will make someone who is having a rather bad day, happy to be alive. But I am too lazy to look any longer. So help me out reddit.

The one that never ceases to inspire me is the recently popularized success story of Arthur Boorman. It may be that fact that he is a veteran that makes me appreciate it so much, but either way this makes me smile all the time.

Your turn reddit. What inspirational stories or facts do you know that will make someone, somewhere, happy to be alive. If you have personal success stories that you would like to share, feel free, because your story may inspire others more than you think
