Is there any hope for me? 26 and never been close to being in a relationship before.

As the title suggets, I'm 26 and I've never been close to being in a real relationship. I was in a dysfunctional 'friends with benefits' type deal about 5 years ago which lasted about 6 months. I'll spare the gory details since thats not why I'm posting.

I'm a weird sort of hybrid where I simulatenously loving one on one interaction while also being an extreme introvert. It's not that I don't like people, I really do, its just that they wear me out even if I've I had a great time with them. I'm not socially awkward and I get along well with people when I'm socializing with them (which is admittedly quite rare) and people generally seem to like me. Women on the other hand, I don't think they could be less interested in me. I've never had a girl display any affection / interest in me. I have a few female friends who are a little baffled about how I've gone so long without ever being in a relationship, but when I pose the question to them of why they weren't interested in me I always get the same response: "well, you're a great guy but you're just not my type". When they've tried to set me up with their friends, their friends have said "he's just not my type".

So, my questions are:

  1. What does "just not my type" mean? And is there anything I can do about this?
  2. What can I do to improve my chances of attracting women with the intent of being in a relationship? Everything I've done thus far seems to fall flat... I workout quite a bit, I read extensively, I've just finished graduate school, I'm currently writing a book, I teach guitar, and I speak three languages. I'm not trying to sound arrogant or conceited when I speak of these things, I'm just trying to show that I take care of my physical appearance and I have a lot of things to say. I have an interest in pretty much every subject imaginable so I think I'm pretty easy to talk to.. I've also been told I'm a good listener and I have a good sense of humour, but alas.. I don't know what my problem is :(
  3. I don't drink alcohol at all and I'm sort of struggling under student debt at the moment and now that I'm no longer in school I really just have no idea of where to meet women. I don't really have a group of friends to go out with, so I'm left looking for places that are 'frugal-friendly', for lack of a better way of saying it and where drinking isn't necessary.

All in all, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and any advice is appreciated.. Thanks.
