Are any of you in the San Diego area and/or going to the 2012 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) conference?

I signed up for the conference - both as a regular attendee and as an applicant for job interviews. I have yet to make travel arrangements, but I intend to go by train. You see, I live in PA for the time being, and the conference is out in San Diego, CA. I don't want to travel by airplane for several reasons, so I'll be going by train, which is about $800 round-trip. That's quite a large chunk of change by itself, and I'd prefer to avoid paying $500 or so more for hotel accommodations.

Now, I'm aware of couchsurfing.org, and will use that if I have no other alternative, but I'd like to see if anyone here's from the area first who could offer me a couch/floor/place to sleep. If it helps, I'm a pretty good cook (although I don't know what times I'd be cooking, depending on the conference schedule and events).
