Receiver with Video Playback through USB Device

Maybe a dumb question, but are there any home theater receivers on the market that would play for example avi files through a thumb drive. Most of the receivers out there only work with iPod products. Any help on the subject would be appreciated. Also looking for something with a reasonable price (<$400). Thanks!
