My sister is moving from Upstate New York to San Antonio, Texas in ten days. Does reddit have any advice for someone moving to such a different climate/area of the country?

My brother-in-law recently accepted a job in San Antonio and will be moving, along with my sister and nephew, in about ten days. Is there anything about the area she should be aware of? Any advice for someone going through such a dramatic change in climate? I can think of lots of advice for someone moving to an area with harsh winters like the ones we experience in our area, but what should she do to prepare herself for living in San Antonio?
