Bought a Microsoft Laser mouse 7000, the charging light is flashing red.

I have tried pressuring the battery with paper but havent been able to get the light on the rechargable mouse flash green.

any suggestions?

EDIT: sorry, i was unclear, This is the battery that came with the mouse and this is the first time using it. When i tried to recharge it, i introduced the battery in the mouse and put it in the charger, this caused a red flashing light that kept flashing for more than one hour. When i try to turn it on there's no light.
