This put a smile on my face

I was leaving Office Depot this afternoon and had parked next to a guy who had left the store just before me but was still sitting in his car. As he was pulling out he asked me how the Nighthawk was treating me. I said it's somewhat of a new bike to me, but great so far. He told me about how he used to be a courier in Los Angeles and him and his friend did deliveries. I mentioned how wild the traffic must have been and he said his friend turned over his CB750/Nighthawk with over 110k miles on it.

He told me about a dual sport he used to have and how they would put 300+ miles a day doing deliveries. He said he didn't have any bikes at the moment but it's been itching at him. I told him it seems like the type of thing that often sticks with people for a lifetime. He agreed.

After talking for a while about our experiences riding he said it's good to see someone with a good head on their shoulders and dressed to ride. He mentioned how these people with their t-shirts and flip flops are just insane and how he just couldn't wrap his head around it. We laughed and after a while the conversation came to a close and he drove off.

Just then, as I'm putting my helmet on, I see a sportbike entering the parking lot with a man on it wearing a tanktop, shorts and flip-flops AND he had a lady-friend on the back with the same attire! I look towards the intersection at the exit of the parking lot to see if my acquaintance from earlier was there, and he was. Pointing back and laughing at a perfect example of what we had JUST got done talking about.

It was stupid and simple, but it put a smile on my face the entire ride home as I reflected about how valuable it is to connect with other, like minded riders. Riders make up a pretty small portion of the population, and as a result (for most of us) there really aren't a lot of people in our day-to-day that can truly connect and relate to this part of our lives which effects some of us so deeply.
