Looking for a CX bike. Thoughts on the Civilian Vive Le Roi? (x-post from /r/whichbike)
Hey guys,
So I'm considering getting a cyclocross bike to use for errands and possibly for racing in the fall. I'd like to spend around 1k, but the priority is getting something high quality. If that means I have to compromise a little bit on the budget, I'm comfortable in doing that.
I saw this one on competitivecyclist and it seems to tick most of my boxes. It's got disc brakes which is a nice plus, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't attracted to the look.
I suppose the only potential drawback I can see is that it only has a single chainring. According to civilian bike's website it does have routing for a FD, so I could always upgrade in the future if I wanted to (and competitivecyclist's current 25% off deal makes that more feasible). I know that only having a single won't be a problem for errands since I live in a flat area, but I wonder if I'll miss it when I start racing.
So, does anyone have opinions on the Civilian Vive Le Roi, or suggestions for alternatives within a similar price range?
TL;DR Thoughts on this bike? Suggestions for alternatives?
