Test drove 2012 Jetta TDI & GLI. Can't decide which to get. Help!

Serious first world problem. Considering going with a new VW at this point after looking into Honda, Hyundai, Mazda etc...

Originally was set on the TDI because of the great fuel economy but then I began researching the GLI and test drove one today. Now I can't decide. The GLI was an amazing ride but will cost a little more than the TDI. Both are in that 24k-27k range, which is just at my max on what I'm looking to spend.

From what I've read online it seems like the TDI requires a lot of maintenance, but don't know how true that really is.
