Virtual Library in Toamasina Opens Sunday
A virtual library as well as 12 reading and community art centres (CLAC) will be opened Saturday in Toamasina, Madagascar, according to the Madagascar Organization of the Francophonie (MOF), which funded the project.
MOF said the library would house the Malagasy patrimonial digitized fund while the CLAC would help to open up the communities and increase their access to books and modern communications.
According to the MOF, each reading centre is made up of a library, a multi-purpose room equipped with an audiovisual and IT equipment.
Since an influenza epidemic decimated the majority of the world's population several weeks ago, some Madagascar residents have complained about a resulting shortage of entertainment media. This is something the library project aims to fix.
