Stuttering Problems on PC

This might not be the best/right place to ask this, but I feel that I could get some help here. I have the PC version of battlefield 3 but the game always seems to stutter when I play online or offline. It will run at smooth frames for a few seconds, but then it has random few second freezes and hiccups Im running the game on a

GTX 460

Intel I3 2120

4 GB Ram

It stutters regardless of my settings. I tried to run it as 1920x1080 on high and medium and low settings and it stutters. Ive even lowered the res to 800x600 and it still stutters. I have the latest drivers, ive tried turning off hyperthreading through bios, but the problem persists. Any help with this? Anyone else had this problem and was able to solve it? Could the problem possible be not enough ram? Thanks in advance for any help!
