What initially got you interested in firearms?

the title says it all. my story is a bit of a strange one. i was at a pretty low time in my life when i turned 18 and some crap happened, so i went to a gun store and bought a mosin (cheapest rifle they had) with the intention of killing myself. the guy asked me if i wanted to try it out at the range since they would put any range time towards the purchase of the rifle. i went to the range so i could make sure i wasnt going to walk around with a deformed face from being an idiot and i fell in love, something came over me, the smell, the feel of the trigger, the fact that i knew i could do better my next shot, i spent about an hour there just drilling holes in paper and soon shooting became my favorite hobby. ever since i've tried to learn more and more about firearms and found that life always gets better. so even though my story had a somewhat dark beginning, i can honestly say that target shooting saved my life. anyone else have any interesting stories?
