Trying to put my life back together after a two-year struggle with clinical depression. Any advice?
I am a 16-year-old male who is currently in high school. I am not hesitant to say that I have had a very, VERY fortunate life. I have never been bullied, abused, betrayed, or anything of the like. My school is a relatively safe one where not much bad behavior takes place. I am a very successful student (4.1 overall GPA at the moment), with some fairly big achievements in trumpet-playing and a very strong passion for running track and cross country. I have a fairly large and positive group of friends. Yet, on top of all of this good news, I let myself sink down under all of the stress I made for myself trying to be perfect at everything. I bullied myself to get myself to work harder at everything, and I hid the sad feelings I felt about those for two years before I got help this March. I am doing pretty well now, but I am just trying to re-discover myself. My biggest thing is learning about how to feel close to people again, because I REALLY detatched myself from everyone during that time, even though I am usually really social. Thank you all for the advice, it means a lot. :)
