Good budget-friendly recipes?

What are some good recipes you can cook for very little? I'll start with one of my favorites: BBQ pulled chicken.

  • about 1 lb of chicken breasts
  • a bottle or 2 of barbecue sauce
  • a little vegetable oil
  • an onion

I make mine in a slow cooker, but it can be adapted to stove top pretty easily. Heat vegetable oil over low heat, then add chopped onions on top. Fry the onions for a bit, then add whole chicken breasts & the entire bottle of barbecue sauce. Bring sauce to simmer, then turn heat down to lowest setting. Let cook for 5 - 6 hours, stirring once in a while. Serve on hamburger buns.

Total cost: ~$12. This lasts me about a week too. On a college budget, it's a great meal.
