Religion is child abuse [self]

If I had a child, and told him he was a worthless sack of shit worthy of being tortured for all eternity just because it incoveniences me, that is mental child abuse, and justifiably so.

However, if I have a child and teach him that he is a unforgivable sinner who deserves to burn for all of eternity and never be consumed, while being continually tortured while continually renewed because Adam committed the original sin of eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge, and unless he accepts jesus christ as his lord and saviour, and is blessed with the power of the tounges of angels, you will go to hell forever.

Why is the first one considered child abuse, the the latter example is not. They both imply the same thing to the child. You are worthless, and I wish you were dead. When they die, I hope they get tortured for all eternity. That is, unless they believe exactly as I do, then I hope they live with me forever.

I consider them both child abuse.
