My mother's reaction
(I think this is the appropriate location)
So, last night, I was being driven by my mother to a concert. She abruptly asked me "Are you gay?" while getting into the car. Deciding I was comfortable enough with myself, and given that she's never appeared bigoted, I said "I'm probably a bisexual".
"Well you're either gay or straight, [name]".
I'd rather not recall the conversation that followed, but as she drove me home a few hours later after the concert, she calmed down enough to say "I'll love you no matter what you are".
Then she said "I feel sorry for you because, as a bisexual, you'll never be able to commit to a partner".
I'm not the sort of person to swear often, but fuck her. I've lost all respect for her as a person.
Edit: Everyone seems to agree that I should give her some time. Perhaps I've judged her a little harshly. Thanks for your reassuring words, everyone.
