PVE Archery Build?

I want to start a character and primarily use just a bow. I recently started using a bow on NG++ and it is fun. My only concern is that it won't be effective with a new character. A +5 Darkmoon Bow probably set my expectations a little high, but has anyone played through the game as an archer? It sounds like it could be fun
