Recent PC convert, please guide me! (game crashes)

i just installed Skyrim on my laptop. things have been going good so far, but tonight, it has begun crashing every time i hit Continue or Load from the main menu. it will begin to load and instantly crash to desktop.

i do have a number of mods installed but they never gave me trouble before. please, can anyone help?
