Going to Hawaii mid August. Any recommendations?

It'll be me and my SO for a week in Maui. I need recommendations on pretty much anything. If you've been to any great hotels, I'd love to hear about them. Great restaurants, hidden gems, adventure stuff. Also would love to know of any overrated things that everyone says you should do. I was thinking of snorkeling, going to a luau, and renting a car. Should I get a scooter instead? Thanks in advance!
