My DIY chess pieces. (Album + instructions/ materials in post)

All bolts / threaded rods are 3/8th diamter
Pawns: 1 inch tall bolts with a flanged nut base.
Rooks: 1 1/2 inch tall threaded rod. (Needed a saw to cut) I used the flanged nut for the top for this one (only one to use it for a top rather than base) I am not sure of the bottom piece name, I just thought it looked cool at the hardware store! sorry about that.
Knights: 1 inch tall bolt, with half inch unthreaded. I used the flanged nut for the base, and a winged nut for the "horse" part. I also added a small geared washer (again, I just picked them out at the store and am unsure of the technical name) in between the two nuts
Bishops: I used a 2 inch tall piece of threaded rod. I put the base on, with 2 regular washers (1 inch diameter) and the geared washer at the base with an acorn nut on top.
Queens: 3 1/2 inch tasll carriage bold. I added a geared washer, a noraml washer on top followed by a nut and then a 1 3/4 inch coupling nut. I added a geared washer on top of the bold to act as a crown.
Kings: The kings are 3 1/2 inch tall rods. I put the base on and dropped a washer and geared washer down. I then treaded an identical coupling nut as the queen followed by a washer and geared washer. I then put one of the rook bases on upside down ( I think, I've never seen the nuts on the rooks before so I'm not sure about their 'right way') and attached a geared washer on top like a crown.
I secured the nuts and washers using contact cement, although after a few months of being in a tupperware with only paper padding some have come undone and need re-gluing.
I used spray paint to colour the pieces gold and silver. I used a non-scratch finishing coat which, as you can see, didn't work as well as advertised.
In total, if cost around 65$ CAD for the bolts. It took an hour or two to fully assemble and a few days to paint and apply the finishing coats. I had to apply 3 coats of paint from multiple angles + the finishing coat. I also bought ceramic tiles I plan to use as a coard but that's another day.
