Is there anywhere safe to build with Wool above ground?

I've tried to build a lighthouse twice now, only to have lightning strike it and have it catch fire on both attempts. It's frustrating because it looks great and colorful, but it's pointless since it'll just be burned to the ground anyway.

Is there a way around this? And is there anywhere you can build with wool free from potential lightning fires?
