DROID 4 HELP!!!

I have a DROID 4 by Motorola (bad choice I know, I wanted a keyboard so back off). First I'd like to know where android 4.0 is and why jelly bean is going to be released before I can update to ice cream sandwich. Second, does anyone know a way to root this phone? Or a tutorial/website to guide me through it? I'm a rooting virgin.
