Complaining about Spain? Really?
I've read most comments about Spain's "boring" game against the French, and quite honestly I'm flabbergasted. If a team is parking the bus, everyone is annoyed. If a team plays beautifully with possession, fans still get annoyed. Spain do play a high possession game, but that's their style. It's effective & successful. It's better than parking the bus & hoping for a lucky break.
Remember, this is a tournament, NOT a one off match. I think it is smart of them to save energy & not burn out in the quarter finals. It's a marathon, not a sprint. They have to play 6 games in one month if they go all the way through, that is a lot of minutes on the back end of their respective domestic leagues.
IMO, I think the French are to blame for not taking the match to Spain. If a team could coast their way through a match, knowing they have extremely difficult games coming up, why not play it easy.
TL;DR = It's a long tournament. You need to conserve energy if you can. Spain's play is effective & successful. It's better than parking the bus or long balls all game.
