Non-Atheists, Why do you believe in god(s), or the afterlife?
I do not believe in god or the afterlife, (an unpopular opinion here on reddit) but i would love to understand better where those with a spiritual background come from. I was raised with no suggestions on whether god was real or not - I was mostly left to figure it out myself, which I am grateful for- do you believe because of your parents? Or is your faith founded in a specific event? I've often wondered whether your faith was something constant as well, or the idioms we all use are just that and have lost affiliation with religion all together. So reddit, atheists and non-atheists alike, I suppose, what's the deal with faith?
EDIT: Not looking for 'proof'. Any scientists, how do you reconcile the two?
