Tire and wheel size options?

So I drive a 76 CJ7 with no lift and would like to increase my footprint. I would also like to gain a bit more stability trail riding. I was thinking of going to a larger diameter tire maybe a 32. Then offsetting the wheels. This would mean wider flares, right? Does anyone out there know if this setup will work?
