Not sure if this is the right place, but I need help finding a book.

I used to read this book about a kid that went to another dimension, and every "boss" he beat he got a an item with some sort of power (like clock hand swords, or this glove that let him mold physical reality). Does anybody know what book I'm talking about? It's actually a series of books if that helps...

I've been looking for this book for ages; I started reading it while I was in 8th grade (I'm almost 20 now). I can't remember anything about the book other than pretty much what I just gave.
